High Mark Plumbing would like to share with you the benefits of a trenchless water main line in Richmond. We now have the ability to take advantage of this modern process, and want to share this good fortune with our customers.
A trenchless water main line is installed with a minimum amount of digging. This means less disturbance to your landscaping. It is also faster, does not require large earth moving equipment and takes less time than a conventional installation which means saving money for our customers. The way it works is first all utility companies are contacted to locate any existing underground facilities. Next, the intake from the city water main is discovered, as well as the intake location next to your foundation. A small hole is dug at each of these locations. Next, we calculate the slope and direction from the city intake to your home intake that is by the foundation. An auger bores through the dirt from the city main location to the home foundation location. As it is withdrawn, it is used to pull a strong, lightweight cable back through the hole. This cable is then hooked to a flexible intake line and used to pull it back through the newly made hole. Fixtures are attached to each end of the new intake line and all that remains is to hook it up to the city water supply and then to the house intake just outside the foundation. The water is turned on to check for any leaks, then the small holes are backfilled.
