Drain tiles are an important part of your home plumbing system. High Mark Plumbing can help with your Shawnessy, Calgary AB drain tile cleaning.
Drain tiles are used to create a way for moisture to move away from your home. They can be made from a variety of materials: clay, metal, pvc or abs plastic. They are often round but can be square. They are installed in trenches below ground surface. Water seeps into the drains through the holes, and can then flow to a more suitable area, such as a storm drain. They were first used in agriculture, then made well known by an author, Henry French, which is why they are sometimes known as French drains. They can be installed anywhere that water likes to pool, including near the bottom outside edge of basement walls or foundations. Unfortunately, those perforated holes are easy entrances for tree roots, sifting earth and even pine needles or grass clippings. Fortunately, they are not too difficult to clean. We can first run a camera down the length of the pipe to check its condition, then send a rotary auger through the tunnel to clear obstructions. If there is an area where the pipe is broken, we can sometimes even repair it using a flexible pipe that is slid into the space, and then allowed to expand.
