Here are some great Vancouver Plumbing Tips on Clearing Your Sink Drains. Over time sinks tend to get clogged with hair, soap, residue and food particles. All of these items combined often contribute to Vancouver Plumbing issues and clogged drains.
Fortunately, these issues tend to build up slowly over time, so some routine cleaning and clearing of the drain can make a big difference on how many plumbing and drainage issues you have. When you initially get a clogged drain, chances are that the issue is within reach.
- At first site of the clogged drain, try using a plunger first. You can fill the sink with some water, apply the plunger and see if it drains the clogged sink.
- If the plunger doesn’t do the trick, the next thing you’ll want to try to check the trap, which is the lowest bend in the pipes underneath the sink. If your sink trap has a clean out plug at the bottom of the bend, just open the plug and try to pull out whatever is clogging the pipes.
- If you have a more ordinary kind of trap with couplings on either end, you can easily loosen both couplings and then slide the trap off which will allow you to clean out the sink trap. (Important) Before removing any pipes, make sure a bucket is underneath so that you can catch the residual water. And make sure not to apply to much pressure when removing the pipes, otherwise you can damage the pipes.
- One thing to beware of is the over the counter cleaning products, which can actually do major damage to your pipes. Instead you may want to try removing the clog yourself or contacting a Vancouver Plumber if you need a licensed plumber to help resolve the issue.
